The copyright page confirms it as the eighth impression, printed in Great Britain by Richard Clay and Company, Bungay, Suffolk. It comes in its original pictorial dust jacket designed by Ralph Thompson, with the 18s net price still printed on the flap and the Book Society Choice wording, over green cloth boards. A cosy cottagecore, vintagecore addition to a shelf, and a lovely read for animal lovers. Condition is good for its age and clean inside, with some light age spots to the endpapers and first pages. The dust jacket shows its age: the head of the spine is chipped with a small loss, the top right corner of the front panel is torn, and there are nicks, creases, fading and some surface soiling. The jacket is complete, and the colourful front and back panels are still bright. Durrell was ten when his family moved to Corfu in 1935, and this was the first book of what became known as his Corfu trilogy. £28 Delivered in the UK £25 Collect from Kirkby Lonsdale |
