Treasures ready for a second life

Adding ornate old paintings, worn textiles, and aged wood adds colour, but not so much that it makes a home too bright. Faded treasures give a room warmth and feel more personal than shiny new decorations. Colour feels softer when it already has a history. Why choose only one decade? Mix your eras to make a room your own rather than obviously following a trend. Pick little things that can be 'discovered' by visitors, as well as statement pieces.

Everything in the barn has been somewhere before — and most of it will outlast whatever you can buy flat-packed this weekend. Come in for one thing and you'll probably leave with another. A tiny barn bursting with things worth keeping — antiques, original paintings, ornaments, lamps and pieces I've restored myself (or plan to ... ).

Antique & Vintage Treasures

I'm always on the hunt for unique items with genuine age, beauty and history. My treasure haul changes constantly and focuses mainly on:
  • Original Art: A floating gallery of antique & vintage paintings (they are literally hanging from the rafters), oil & watercolour originals, often with sumptuous gilt frames.
  • Collectables & Ornaments: From cherubs to sparkly crystal to delicate china. Lots of decorative pieces for your shelves, walls and dining table.
  • Select Furniture: A small, hand-picked mix of sturdy vintage and country pieces.

Furniture Revival

I love taking tired old pieces of furniture and stripping them back, ideally to the original wood — and where that's not possible, I'll paint them in colours I love. I'm drawn to solid, strong furniture that looks like it's had a good life, because it has.

Opening Hours?

I don't have set hours, but I'm at the barn most days and always happy to welcome people in for a browse and a chat. To make sure the door's open when you arrive, just drop me a quick message before you pop over. On Thursdays I can be found at the Craft and Collectibles Market inside Lunesdale Hall in Kirkby Lonsdale. If there is a special treasure you would like me to bring along, drop me a message.

From the A65 coming from the M6, turn left at Lupton where you see the 'Old Town' sign. Go past Lupton Church on your left onto Goodmickle Lane. Bear right at the crossroads; The Vintage Barn is the next farm lane on the left.

From Kirkby Lonsdale

From the A65 coming from Kirkby Lonsdale, turn right at Lupton where you see the 'Old Town' sign. Go past Lupton Church on your left onto Goodmickle Lane. Bear right at the crossroads; The Vintage Barn is the next farm lane on the left.

From Oxenholme, Kendal

Go past the train station on your left, follow the B6254 past The Station Inn, towards Kirkby Lonsdale. Follow the road for about 6 miles then, just after the turning for Kitridding Farm Shop & Cafe, turn right onto Goodmickle Lane. The Vintage Barn is along the second farm lane on your right (about 1 mile along the lane).
